Course objectives: By the end of this course the student will be able to:

1.   Discuss and explain advances in environmental and occupational health

2.   Discuss and explain Legislations, compensations and ethics

3.   Discuss and investigate health and safety risk management.

4.   Identify & describe the threats, rescue and response issues pertaining to potential terrorist incidents from a public health perspective.

Content

Monitor health status to identify and solve community health problems.

Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community.

Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.

Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems.

Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.

Teaching methods: Lectures, seminars, individual exercises and group discussion.

Practical: practical sessions at computer lab.

Assessment: Attendance,  assignments (10%) MCQ (30%), essays & problems (60%).
